ChatGPT changed how you assign difficult work, Google Maps moved closer to taking customer orders, and Suno added new checks around AI-made music. Give this dispatch 30 minutes. You'll leave with a clearer ChatGPT rule for staff, a Maps ordering check, and a safer approval step for campaign audio.

ChatGPT adds a reasoning slider and unlimited free text chats

OpenAI changed ChatGPT's day-to-day controls on August 6. Plus and Pro accounts now get an updated GPT-5.6 Sol model and a slider that controls how much time the system spends working through an answer. Free and Go accounts will move to GPT-5.6 Luna this week, followed next week by unlimited text chats and a Think button, subject to abuse controls. File, image, and other tool limits remain.

The business consequence is simple: buying more seats is no longer the first answer when staff mainly draft text. But unlimited messages do not make every answer equally careful. OpenAI says the deeper setting is intended for planning, research, writing, coding, and decisions that need more thought. Its August 6 announcement also says this ChatGPT update does not change the GPT-5.6 Sol version used in Work or Codex.

Set one team rule today. Use the normal setting for summaries, rewrites, and first drafts. Move the reasoning slider up, or press Think on eligible accounts, before a pricing comparison, campaign plan, or anything built from several sources. Then require the source-checking pattern in this marketing prompt system before the answer reaches a customer.

Your move today

Pick one decision your team normally sends through ChatGPT twice. Run it once at the normal setting and once with more reasoning, using the same prompt and source files. Keep the higher setting only if the second answer changes a decision or catches a real error.

Google Maps starts assembling food orders

Google Maps began rolling out food ordering inside Ask Maps in the US on August 6. Ask Maps can find an open restaurant along a route, account for stated food preferences, and add a selected dish to the cart for review. Square and Toast are launch partners, with Uber Eats due later. Hotel and event discovery also started rolling out in the US.

This matters first to restaurants, but the direction matters to every local business. A customer can move from a broad request to a prepared transaction without visiting the business's website. An AI agent, software that completes several steps from one request, is now reading the location, availability, menu, and checkout information that other systems hold.

Run a customer-side test instead of starting a new campaign. In Ask Maps, request one real item from your business with a pickup time and a dietary condition. Compare the cart with your point-of-sale system, the checkout software that holds prices and menu items. Correct any mismatch there, then repeat the test. Google's Maps announcement says the customer still reviews and completes the order, so broken source data can stop the sale at the last screen. The same data-first principle drives the Google AI visibility setup and this local search build.

Suno adds watermarks and limits mass downloads

Suno said on August 6 that new transparency tools are starting to roll out, with audio watermarking and fingerprinting due in the coming weeks. A watermark is a hidden marker that helps another platform identify where a track came from. Suno also said a new download policy will soon restrict mass distribution to streaming services, although it did not publish the limits or an effective date.

If your team uses AI music for adverts or social clips, add provenance to the approval sheet now. Provenance means a record of where an asset came from and what rights apply to it. Store the Suno project link, prompt, export date, editor, intended channels, and proof that any uploaded voice or audio was cleared for use. Do not build a high-volume publishing process around today's download allowance while the new limit remains unspecified.

The Suno policy announcement also says its rules prohibit using a person's voice or likeness without permission and prohibit deceptive audio presented as authentic. That makes disclosed, reviewed background music the sensible test. Customer-facing voice imitation is the wrong job. For a cleaner audio approval process, adapt the clip-by-clip method in the AI voiceover settings runbook.

On the bench

  • Test whether ChatGPT's higher reasoning setting finds a source error that the normal setting misses.
  • Watch one Ask Maps order from request to final cart, especially price, availability, and pickup details.
  • Hold any bulk Suno export workflow until the download limits and timing are published.
